Well, here's an idea of progress to date. See earlier posts for 'as before' pictures.

1) Original state of the headstock shown below as removed from the machine; full of mud wasp debris + surface corrosion. Was semi-seized because it had sat unused for so long.

2) After a bit of work...
The thrust bearing was the only part replaced. ($20). The shaft bearings were in pretty good condition considering... was able to use the previous shims.

3) The general rebuild thus far. How to keep brain & body usefully engaged over the past few months of 'interesting times'.
