Default I didn't think I could machine the HSS tool.

I'm surprised at the progress so far.

    Default Many thanks

    Hello to NCArcher.
Thanks for making it 1000 subs.
I was a bit skittish about drilling the end of the cutter but it worked OK once I got the tailstock clamped up better. I suspect the turning is just friction machining.
To the credit of the Seco insert it is still on the same corner and usuable.
    regards

I was watching that carbide drill bit with my jaw tightly clenched, waiting for it to disintegrate. I know they are expensive but I kind of wanted it to explode. Just thinking about the number of views

    Hello again.
I have in the past used carbide spade drills. They are good as they have no tendancy to bite in. Carbide blanks are cheap, as are diamond wheels now so I might make some spade drills when needed.
Still the Sutton jobber drill amazed me.
