Belt grinder build (on a budget)
Hi Folks,
If you like machining and fabricating you might enjoy my latest build video - my rendition of Jeremy Schmidt's 2x72 belt grinder build:

Thanks Craig, great video. What size motor did you use?

Hi Kryn,
Thanks for the compliment!
It's an old GMC motor that I bought from a friend a while back. 1hp, 1440rpm, single phase. I don't know for sure how old it is - but it's quite old. It does says 1962 on the tag, but I don't know if that's motor age, or the age of the BS spec it applies to. It was always intended as a temporary motor, because it was what I had on hand at the time.
I do have my eyes open for a good value 2hp 3-phase motor, that I can drive from a VFD to get higher and lower speeds for a range of materials. It shouldn't be too difficult to do the upgrade if I find something suitable.
Cheers,
Craig
