Looked like Alnico magnets to me which means once he pulled the top off they lost a fair proportion of their magnetism. He will probably have to get it zapped as it is going to have bugger all strength.

So long as they aren't dropped or heated they should retain magnetism.
I spoke to a few people that repair them and they say that any magnetism loss is usually just the poles not lining up. It's usually an easy fix apparently

I left my magnets on the top plate knowing how strong the magnets are and not wanting to crush fingers or anything stupid. Ideally it would get separated for a more thorough cleaning

Eclipse magnetic chucks are full of heavy oil to lubricate the whole mechanism and to reduce the chance of water ingress although some always seems to get in.

I don't see myself wet grinding anymore after the mess and seeing how quick coolant tanks go bad when not in use lol
I coated everything with way oil but as a few people have suggested a silicone seal would be a good option

My Eclipse is weak on the magnetism side, anyone have any ideas besides sending it to a specialist place????
    Thanks,

Take it apart and have a look. It's all about the alignment really
Other than excessive heat (look up curie temperature) or lots of heavy percussive shock, I'm not sure magnets can loose their strength

Or it's wrong thickness material for the pole spacing? Fine pole magnets prefer thin stock, and coarse pole prefer thicker
