xmas stuff
At xmas I usually try to make some kind of strange thing that you can't just buy for cheap from aliexpress.
I also try to make something that couldn't be mass mproduced for $5 if they decided to.
This lot don't make commercial sense as they take too long to make and I could argue they are pretty useless and frivolous.
I think this one could be called jewellery, maybe. 45 years too late, it would have been great in the punk era. The rods are 2.4mm welding rods. the ring I made to be 17.7mm internal diameter (size P)

This one was for my neighbour who worked all his life on oil rigs. Supposed to look like an oil barrel salt/pepper. Actually I rendered a 200litre barrel I have, using exact measurements in solidworks to see how it looked before I took the time to make it, but it just looked like a can of beans to me,

so i did a characature of a drum instead, with much exagerated ribs. Somone else asked me to make them one, but its 50mm diameter 316 stainless and to buy that stock on ebay would cost over $100, so no go.

This is supposed to be a cocktail keyring

The person I made it for didn't want me to drill a hole in it so I made a kind of funny hoder;

This year I did that old favourite, a welded rose. A lot of people selling these on etsi. This one is more of a miniture rose, the stem is 2.4mm welding rod, the leafs are on 1.6mm rod.

The first thing i ever made on a lathe was a bottle opener. Pretty easy and quick to make, a bit of round bar, drill two holes, make three cuts, and the rest is decoration. My original rusty one and the new one made of stainless steel.
I can't imagine this is feature anyone on this forum would want, but due to the length, it will remove a bottletop without creasing it, so its easy to push it back on and seal it again, keeping the beer for later.

Maybe none of this is jewellery but feel hardly a project either, but please move the message where you think best.

The ring is my favourite. Though, I expect the first copper to see it might confiscate it as a weapon.

Thanks guys, I'm glad someone else likes the ring, because I thought it was really good. I thought it would be pretty original and out there, but it got a lukewarm reception. i guess punk era is a long time ago, but i reckon it looks hilarious on and perhaps a bit "fabulous" like liberace might wear. Not perhaps the look that the ladies are after, right enough.
I did a whole range of sizes in solidworks cos its a lot easier to pick what looks nicest without actually making them first.
