Default Indicator light for submersible pump operation

    Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows of a plug in device that could go between a 240 volt outlet and a 3 pin plug that would activate an indicator light when the float switch on the submersible pump is on? Ie. when there is current flow.
I'd just like to get an idea of cycle times, but have no way of knowing when it's running and when it's off. I'd imagine there would have to something available. Thanks.

If you've got wifi at the location, this:

Otherwise this style will work if you want to stand and watch it:

I doubt you'll find an off the shelf plug in indicator light as you describe, that's a pretty specific use case, and most situations requiring that will have a hardwired control panel for same. But, anything is possible...

Thanks for that. Yes, this one from Jaycar might be the next best thing.
I had a situation a while ago when the float switch got hooked up and the pump kept running 24 / 7 and I didn't know it. Obviously it buggered the pump, so I thought something like this might alert me to anything like this in the future.
    Thanks again.

Years ago there used to be electronic kit sets that would plug in between the 240v outlet and the load (ie pump in your scenario)
When there was current flowing to the load it would turn on a secondary power outlet on the device.
Great for plugging a sander and vacuum into - hit go on the sander and the vacuum automatically gets power and then turns off when you stop the sander.

In your pump scenario you could plug an indicator light into the current switched outlet.

Can’t see any online currently from a Quick Look though.

My shop vac has the function inbuilt.
You plug your sander into the outlet, set the power switch to the “controlled” position and when you start the sander the vac turns on.

They do still exist, I just managed to dig this one up after you reminded me of their existence:

Looks like it'd be much cheaper if you can use one of those WiFi units though! Other advantage of the WiFi unit is it apparently can be configured to give you a history of runtimes etc, so you don't have to watch a light with a stopwatch.

Default Indicator light for submersible pump operation

I have no particular experience with this pump situation however I will say that the Arlec/Orion Grid connect offerings are slightly dumbed out for ease of use based on my experience with their home automation stuff and I am still running a few of their security solutions.

Without going into specifics, but 1. everything seems limited to the smartphone app 2. There are limited functions supported by their trigger/automation setup.

For example from a home security perspective, I want to be able to arm/disarm the entire motion sensing aspect of security system based on geo-location of my phone or by a single click. No it can’t do that. I have to launch the app, go into each device (cameras, motion sensors, contact sensors) and turn off motion detection. Annoying as those functions are not exposed through the app for triggers/automation.

Basically all I am saying is that it’s a closed system that is not very adaptable.

Edit: I forgot to mention that some Arlec devices do not connect directly to the WiFi and require a smart hub (aka Zigbee devices m). So ensure you are getting the correct type of device that connects through the Wifi (aka Tuya WIFI) without the need for a smart hub.

Sorry for side tracking this discussion.

Thanks for that. I've never seen them before. Seem a little pricey for what they are. Looks like I have a few options now though.

Plenty of cheaper versions but unsure of current stockists. Just search for "master slave powerboard"

Wait for the OP but my guess would be a sump pump maybe for a cellar or basement ??

It's a septic pump from the tanks up to the sand filter.
Lost the power for a week and the NBN for two week due to the storms, hence the late reply.
