As it happens,I have just purchased male and female 6.4 mm spade packs this afternoon.

No amp data was stated anywhere on the packs.

However, there is colour coding on the insulation fitted to the spade connectors.

Mine are red which are .5 to 1.5mm wire -Thats what is written on the pack.

I surmise you will have to measure the wire (diameter) you wish to fit the connectors to.

Then just buy the connector for the correct wire diameter- sorry don't know the colour codes for the other connectors but someone will, or you will have to look them up.

Typical wired ratings for spade connectors are
    Red 0.75-1 mm
    Blue 1.5-2.5 mm

Looks like they are a special with that fixing screw. Tried to find them but no luck yet. How thick is the male terminal?

Normal push on lugs are limited in their current ratings

What is the device and is 45 amp the manufacturers ratings for it or are you trying to push its limits ?

Have you considered using small cable lugs?

    https://www.carroll.com.au/terminals...able-lugs.html

What's the wire gauge and the diameter of hole in the male terminal?

Its a electric trolling motor it pulls max 40amps the original wiring is around 8mm2 or looking at jaycars web site 8mm2 is 8 gauge/ 8 awg

The male pins measure 6mm width the screws are around 3mm-4mm

If I'm stuck i can squash some 8mm copper tubing and drill a hole for the screw ideally i want a proper job done tho

If you want a proper job find the original style connector as used on the original cables with the screws to clamp it, do not use the standard push on spade connectors which are commonly available as they are not rated for the high current use.
I have no idea where to source the correct connectors but if need be cut the cables and use inline crimps to extend the cable.

Start with Mouser, digi-key, element14, RS components. Huge databases / Millions of components available. You can look forward to losing a whole day searching for a 30 cent part.

I'd direct solder it, and if you needed to, a small anderson style mini plug would allow disconnection elsewhere.

Found this it looks like the best i can get https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/spade-connectors/4881263

Says 6mm2 cable, i tried searching for 6mm2 amp ratings but got all mixed results up to 108amps but i somehow cant see that little connector handling those amps

The connector has no amp rating only cable size but all cables vary in capacity, i will be running multi strand battery cable

Not sure why I bother to post up reference information for you !

Ok I will try and add some addition information.
The connectors you referenced are industry standard 12AWG - 10AWG crimp spade connectors, the insulated series is coloured yellow to identify it, you will find them in any electrical retailers as well as automotive stores.

Using 10AWG (6mm2) the rating of the terminal connection is limited to 24 amp
    https://www.farnell.com/datasheets/612666.pdf

When used in high current application the contact area and pressure between the male and female connectors become critical, loss of clamping pressure and oxidisation of the contact points leads to heating of the terminals which adds to the oxidisation and reduction of terminal pressure etc, etc, etc

Standard push on spade connectors are not rated for and are not suitable for this application. The motor will work with those connectors but when used under the higher loads it will only be a matter of time before they fail and will most likely damage your motor at the same time due to over heating of the connector.
There is a good reason that the original connectors are not the cheaper push on spade connectors.

It is the wrong connector for the job and the original connector is a cheap ar**d attempt to save money by not using a proper Anderson style plug. Fishing 20 metres from a cliff face and not doing the job right tells me you like swimming.

Yes, exactly the reason you cannot use normal push on spade connectors, just like the one you linked to in post 11.
