You should also examine your need for a plate that big. I do some fiddly parts that need actual QC maybe 6 times a year. None of them need more that a 600 wide plate maximum and at that point it would be 1500 I would think.

Measured my surfaces. The late bed is 1500mm long and the Dufour HM is 1600mm.
I could save a little coin by going for a Mitutoyo 60" x 30" x 10" (1524mm x 762mm x 254mm) which gives a diagonal of 1704mm. This would just be enough for my 1600mm Dufour. To lay the camel back (not yet purchased and unknown length but at least 1600mm) lengthwise would mean I need a plate 2000mm wide which ups the cost.
I still have not run this past the financial advisor and I am sure she will not approve (I don't want that much invested!). Preference will always be a 2nd hand plate of known grade.
