Default How to remove brush holders?

    Hi Guys,
Does anyone know how to remove the brush holders in a Ryobi Router model ERT241200?

I have removed the top cover and the 2 screws holding each Holder in place ( I think thats what they are doing ) but they won't budge.
They are not even loose.... I thought maybe that a tab on the rear might be holding them in but I am not sure now.

Surely the whole bottom section does not need to be removed and then remove the armature

Its not supposed to be this hard....lol.

From the diagrams looks like brush holders just have the two screws that you have removed.

Any chance the holders have gotten hot and are just stuck to the plastic?

Hopefully someone else has pulled one apart previously.

Yes, they look like they should come out. Both are resisting the same.
I have given them a few tugs, but no dice, yet.

    1. I don't want to reef too hard and break something...
    2. There is not much to grip on order to pull on them either....very annoying.....lol

Tried gently levering them as well, but was worring about a possible 'tab' holding them.

Yes recent first hand experience would be fab!

Background. I lent the Router to my FIL. He said a cloud of dust escaped when he turned it on. I was hoping that a brush disintergrated and thats all...maybe not.

Had another go today and got them out. It took some doing. It looks like they got hot and slightly melted the surrounding plastic.

The brushes are VERY short. Long over due for replacing. Will order some more and see if it springs to life.

I got some brushes and fitted them today.
They shredded as soon as I turned the router on. Closer inspection of the commutator showed a segment missing!..Not sure when tha happened..
New Armatures appear to be NLA.

Not sure I can fix it, but will pull it down and have a look.
Not worth fixing but I don't like throwing stuff away.....

    Hi Steve,

Its very unlikely that you will be able to repair a missing armature segment ! But you might find that the same armature is used in other similar machines.
