Kondia table power feed question
Hello all
As some of you may know I purchased A Kondia mill last year in a not going condition.
I have adapted a 3 phase motor and set up a VFD. So that is now sorted.
This brings me to the power feed for the table. It looks like Kondia had two types. Mine has a 110V motor and a variable pot on the front.
In short it does not work but does make a humming noise. The cover was only held on by one screw so I would say someone has been in there before.
Does anyone know if the motor is a 110 DC or AC motor. I know the controller is fed by single phase 110 AC. If it is a DC motor I can get a generic controller. If it is AC I am more confused as I did not think AC motors liked been speed controlled.
Thanks for any information on these controllers.

Hi there,
If it's made by servo which is a US made brand then it will have what is called a Universal motor. These can run on either AC or DC.
I think the speed control circuitry uses a chopped or pulsed DC input to the motor. Or, it may vary the duty cycle of the excitation field. Not quite sure. I'm not an expert on these things.
A picture would be good..
