They don't teach electrical safety at mice school
Came across an unusual sight working on a wall mounted aircon unit at my daughters house today.
When I opened the panel to access the AC connections I found a mouse who had decided crawling across the AC connections to the external compressor /fan would be a good thing to do.
There wouldn't have been much room behind the cover that goes over this so he was SOL trying that shortcut.

As a electrician Ive seen mice caught up in all manners of wiring. As an apprentice at TAFE we used to fix appliances for the local pensioners, one complained his toast wasnt cooking even, you can guess what the culprit was.
But best was years back when I was a tech on the water pipeline to Kalgoorlie. I was called out on a wet windy night to a pump station with no power. As drove up saw the drop out HV fuses were blown so called out the SEC to replace the fuse. After he had done it and was just about to leave it blew again. Checking the lines into the transformer we found a monitor lizard was grabbing onto one of the insulators for HV in. Well and truly dead and charred but as the wind blew he was rocking on and off the terminals shorting to earth. Must have been on there to get warmth.

G/day Ray, they are smarter than what you would think, during a bit of mouse plague a few years ago one of the things i tried was a couple of metal strips screwed to a length of timber hooked up and plugged into the 240, this was slid into a mouse highway between a cupboard and the wall, i did not get one mouse, they completely avoided it. A good mouse trap for inside the house was a 6ft length of lining board layed down on its side and leaning up against the wall so the bottom edge was about an inch away from the wall, how you operated it was you would shut the door behind you and then stomp around the room, the little meeses (maybe 10 or more) would run a hide behind the length of lining board and then you give the lining board a swift kick and squisho the meeses.......

Reminds me of a situation from my childhood. Think I was about 9yo at the time and we were living in a rented farmhouse back in NZ.
Got up one morning to go to school, went out to the kitchen/Dining room and was greeted by a huge rat lying in a pool of blood on the hearth - bludgeoned to death with the fire poker.
Turned out the rat had fronted up earlier while Dad was about to head off to work - so was dealt with appropriately.
His version was that he was then running late for work so didn’t have time for the cleanup, but I’m pretty sure Mum called BS on that
