    Default Cheap lighting

I have a (so called) Aliexpress 10,000 fume LED panel above my electronics workbench for this times where I want to see find electronics component label etc. It works really well so I thought I'd order one for my welding booth.

Here's what my booth looks like during the day with no lights on - yes its a dark shed
All photos taken with the same ISO/Exposure settings (200/F4.5/2.5s)

Now here it is with my previous lighting, 2 x 1500 Lumen LED globes
Works OK but my eyes are rubbish so I needed more

This is with the latest panel
Of course this is not what you see as your eyes adjust somewhat to reduce the brightness but you have to agree its pretty dramatic.

If I try to take a photo of the from of the panel panel when its on teh photo is totally washed out so I tried with Auto exposure off to the side

This is better shot with the panel off

The panel comes from Aliexpress ($13 including shipping) but it has no plug and the earth goes nowhere.
So I added a 3D printed junction box and earth goes to the light chassis via that Al strip under the withe..

It will be interesting to see how long it lasts.

Definitely interested to see how long it lasts - I've been burned before by crappy drivers in cheap LED floodlights that die after a few months.

Doesn't qualify as cheap, but I have one of these above my welding table:

So far very pleased with its performance - having worked in film and video post-production, I'm fairly sensitive to colour rendering, and this unit seems absolutely fine for workshop use.

I've had the same (so called ) 10,000 lumen LED panel above my electronics bench for about 8 months and its still going strong. Mind you I don't use it as general lighting as I already have 10,800 fumes of Osram LED globes above the bench as well and usually the panel in as a spot for doing really fine work.

    Default Ledvance

Mate picked up 8 of those for me from the Big Green shed last week, normally $60 each. He has a trade card, 5% discount got them for $57 each.
Pity they don't come with the hanging kit like the Deta ones did. Bunnings has the hanging kits for $28 if I remember correctly.

Ledvance is the new name for Osram, bought 40 of their down lights from ReductionEvolution, set them to 4000K.

Well, that cheap panel above my welding booth lasted has died. It had been working fine before hand for general MW and a half dozen TIG runs I did last week but this afternoon after I ran the stick welding beads for about 30s it died. Not sure it was coincidental or not. The Vreg is still OK so it must be in the rest of the driver circuits. For the $13 it cost me I'm not that worried about it but will have to get something else for my welding booth. Fortunately I have left the old light there.
