    Default Buffer bearing change

    Hello all

Has anyone done a bearing change in a buffer like this?
I removed the four bolts off the end cap and can see the bearing in the main housing.
I removed the four bolts to remove the main housing and it does not want to move.
Before I go applying a lot of force I thought I would ask for any tips from the experienced.

    Thanks

    Steve

    Hi Steve,

Its no different from changing the bearing in a DE grinder !

A little gentle persuasion with a mallet on the non CF switch end and the thing should come apart, watch out for any springs behind the bearings. Its usually the end bells that are tight, so a tap around the outside often helps.

Thanks, being 3 phase I don't think it should have a CF switch. Am I correct?

    Yes you are right !

But from my viewing of the picture I can't tell whether it has a CFS or not .

Either way dismantling it is no different. End bell caps are often very tight particularly if they have been painted over. The bearings are often tight on the shafts as well, which is where the mallet comes in handy splitting the end cap off.

Baron, thanks for your guidance. It is apart now. I had to resort to a FBH and block of wood.
