My power question was more thinking if I should look at say a 2.2kw motor. I would hate to set up a 1.5 kw motor as stock and find out it would have made a heap of sense to go bigger. One concern about a bigger motor is more weight on the head. Steve

Go with the 2.2 if it will fit, not much difference in weight especially with a alloy cast frame and at least there will be the extra power if needed. A electric motor will only draw the current that it needs to maintain its rated speed. Minimal load and it will draw minimal current, as load increases it will draw more current to maintain its speed. That's why motors burn out, they will keep drawing more current until rated speed is met ,and if overload never trips , the winding themselves act as a fuse and burn out. Go too small on the motor HP and if load becomes greater than its rating it will try to match the increased load with dire results.

I reckon that's one of the great things with VFD's - built in current protection.
