    Default Ecogoo 1ph 220v to 3ph 400v inverter - experiences

A few months back there were a few discussions around these inverters, and a bit of speculation as to whether they actually were truly as advertised - single phase 220v in, and 3ph 400v out.

So I ordered one from Aliexpress and it finally turned up about a month ago.
    Model number: 9100-1T3-00220G
Its a 2.2kW version and was $144 delivered.
Doesn't come with a printed manual, but they are available online here: Product instructions Downloadecogoo
So far I haven't actually been able to download a copy as when I click on the download looking links it prompts me in Chinese - probably to logon to Baidu where the manuals are hosted.
A bit inconvenient, but not a show stopper

Tonight I connected it up to the 2.2kW motor on my hydraulic press power pack to see if it would actually work.
Checked the output voltage and current settings, tweaked the RPM to match the motor and left it at that. No other motor parameters or auto-tuning.
Pressed run - and it started running.
Initial frequency was set at about 16Hz, but just a case of giving the pot on the control panel a tweak and it went up to default max which is 50Hz.
Put a few blocks of hardwood under the ram and cranked up the pressure. It behaved just the same as when I ran it from my phase converter and a 3ph-3ph Powtran inverter.
Checked the voltages to make sure that it was actually putting out ~400v - which it was.
Don't read too much into the actual voltages as I had to use the cheap analogue meter because my auto-ranging digital one didn't like the inverter output. Presumably the carrier frequency was upsetting the auto-ranging. The analogue meter shows 220v input, whereas the digital read 239v. When I find my other digital MM (that isn't auto-ranging) I'll check the voltages again with that.
Input (read the red AC volt scale - 1000v FSD)

    Output

No idea how long it will last, but so far I'm impressed.
A 220-400v unit that works out of the box with minimum configuration for under $150. Its a bit of a game changer I think. No more rooting around with delta conversions on old motors. Would have saved me a few hours work when I was messing round getting my mate's 3ph Brobo cold saw running on 3ph a few months back.

Thanks to Shedhappens for putting me onto them

Edit: Forgot to say its got a smart cooling fan in it. Only starts up when the output is running and turns off again about 20secs after the motor stops running.
Nice to not have the background noise when the motor is off.

    That is very impressive, Steve!
    I can't believe the price.
I think I'll order one for my Arboga 2-speed drill now.

One thing I forgot to mention is that I don't like the power terminals.
They are a small clamp style terminal rather than the typical block style that in the other VFD's I've played with.

The cavities in this photo are only 7mm wide, so lucky if there's 2mm either side of the clamp screw.
I cludged it up for testing, but its going to need a fork or full ring style terminal when wired up properly.

Pardon my lack of knowledge, but would these be able to adjust motor speed like the common VFD's that require 240v 3 phase motor configuration?

Regardless would be so good for motors that cant be configured for those.

YES - output frequency range is 0 - 690Hz (not that you run standard motor anywhere near the top end)

Awesome, what are your thoughts on these inverters? Obviously testing of their reliability is still quite unknown, but if they do everything they say they do are they as good as the more common 240v 1P to 240v 3P inverters you have written a lot about? On their documentation they talk about vector control, but not sure if this equates to vector drive.

Thanks for posting this information Steve, I have a couple of machines with 2 speed, 3 phase 415v motors that i currently run from a phase converter, one of these on each machine will make life easier with the added benefits that a VFD offers. The Aliexpress site does not show your actual part number, did you just order the 2.2kw 220v - 380v(415v) unit?

I'll have to get one and try it out.

    Default Black Friday discount

I have just purchased one for my Hafco GHD-22 drill press, which I have been running on 240v via a VSD (little torque).
Because of the Black Friday Sale I was able to buy it 13% cheaper.
Thank you for the info and website link.

I have downloaded the english manual from

I ordered a 4KW version to power the motor generator on my 10EE. It might get some use if I can run it off 240V.

    Excuse my 'lectrical ignorance here.
If I put the original 3ph motor back in my Hercus and connected one of these contraptions to the original isolating switch input, would all the original switch gear including forward/reverse work as it would have originally on 3ph. Or is that too much to ask.

    Sorry, yes, asking too much
You should not switch ANYTHING on the output of the VFD!
You can use the original switchgear to control the VFD but NOT the motor. That MUST stay connected directly to the VFD output.
    Hope that helps.
