    This modification should improve the response time of the tachometer shown in the video(Post 85).

    I replaced the single magnet with 6 smaller magnets mounted in a piece of pvc conduit. I am waiting on a new panel meter to arrive, this one will be adjustable for the number of pulses per revolution.

    Default 3-wire FWD/STOP control

    I used standard industrial momentary push buttons (22mm),N/O for start and N/C for stop, I don't need reverse for this application. Tomorrow I will wire up a 10K potentiometer, hopefully that will be pretty straight forward.
    Any chance you could explain how you set it up?

    I've looked at the manual and looks like possibly this setup (I haven't tested though and have never done a 3-wire setup before):
    X1 ==> 3 (3 wire run control)
    X2 ==> 1 (forward running)

    The NO button for run goes between X1 and X2, and the NC for stop goes between X2 and ground??

    Hi Steve, I used X1 for Forward Running switch (NO) and X2 for stop switch (NC) and the com wire is bridged between the 2 switches (similar to Fig 2 on page 37). These are the settings I used and although they do not make a lot of sense, they work: P0.02 - 1, P3.01 - 1, P3.02 - 3, P3.08 - 2. I also moved Jumper 6 to lower position although that may not have been necessary.

    Thanks Techo!!
    I can confirm those settings work and the jumper change NOT required.

    For anyone playing along at home, I’d suggest you configure the VFD before hooking up the switches, or to set the P0.02 setting LAST.
    P0.02 ==> 1 sets control to the terminals and you can no longer start/stop from the keypad.
    if you set that parameter before configuring the P3 parameters and have the switches connected you can end up with the motor running - and unable to stop it without turning off the supply to the VFD.

    I also do my testing with the freq set down to about 10hz and the ramp up time about 4sec.
    That way if (when) you run the motor unintentionally (or in the wrong direction) it’s not such a drama.

    Just a follow up on fitting extra magnets (post 91) to improve the response time of the digital panel mount tachometer. With the 6 magnets fitted it updates much faster, as opposed to the single magnet (video in post 85) but obviously the reading is 6 times too fast and the actual Tacho is not adjustable for pulses per revolution.

    I fitted another Tacho with adjustable divider and it is working perfectly now. Does anyone know how to get rid of the decimal point, I don't need to know the speed down to tenths of revolutions per minute?

    Very likely not possible, or requiring major surgery !

    I did something similar once to an LED display. I had to cut a leg off the chip !
