Wire the motor direct to the VFD with all the remote start and contactors removed. If it still won’t start in delta then you have a problem with windings, if it does the problem is with the additional circuitry. Reintroduce one thing at a time until the fault is located.

I think I will bail out here as too many comments being made without people reading the whole thing from the start.

So what do you actually want, a recommendation on a 220-380 VFD or help resolving the issue with the motor not working?

I thought I was done with this thread as it went on far too long but I realised to leave it hang without some sort of conclusion would not be helpful to others that might come across similar issues.
In my view, conclusions to be drawn are that due to lack of input parameters regards current draw both the 1.5 and 2.2 KW budget VFD units were incapable of starting a 1.0 KW unloaded motor in Delta
There is no indication the machine has mechanical problems , the motor itself is not faulty , connections are correct and burnt out old sparky hooking it up `seems` to know what he is doing .
An explanation of the attached photos is as follows
# 1 shows the motor started and running unloaded Star connected drawing 0.9 Amps ( the amps shown are indicative of the 3 phases ) shortly after the motor stalled when trying to mechanically engaging the load.
# 2 shows the c/o switch selected from Star to Delta ( very smooth ) motor slightly louder, ammeter shows a current of 2.6 amps unloaded.
# 3 shows a current draw of 4.2 amps fully loaded ( motor namplate FLC 5.00 Amps 220 volt Delta connected )
# 4 shows a start attempt in Delta with an instantaneous Overcurrent message on screen. All this is not a one off but a consistant issue.
The switchover from Star to Delta has no discernible effect on the VFD. As has been stated before more than once VFD`s don't like being switched when underway, time will tell
