Machine Switches ?
I have a woodworking Machine (Chisel Mortiser) that fell over and took the full impact to the switch .
Complete Obliteration !
Where can I buy one ? I'm not capable of fitting such a thing without instruction so was thinking of having the switch here and ready for the next time an Electrician is here for work .
Its not a standard switch . Its single phase 240V magnetic switch like the three phase switches are I think . The Mortiser also has a capacitor between the switch and motor so this switch must have a lead from switch to capacitor to power that first ( I Think ?)
Whats it called and where do I buy if possible ?
Rob

Pity we couldn't get to see the front of whats left, as it's a bit hard to see if it's a rotary or 2 button on/off switch?

Hi Rob, Guys,
That looks like a three phase no volt switch wired to work on single phase. I'm not sure what that capacitor is supposed to be doing. 200 uf @ 125 volts I think from the picture. That diagram certainly shows a three phase circuit.Best Regards:

The "magnetic switch" is known by the name: "contactor"
The wiring diagram (3 phase) does not match the wiring, I am not sure why.
If you are looking at purchasing a contactor you will need to ensure you have the correct
coil voltage and current rating for this machine.
regards,
Paul
