DDCSV3.1 Controller and Keyboard
Hi,
Anyone using a Keyboard with their DDCSV3.1?
I decided to make a dedicated keyboard with just the keys I needed, but I'm having problems with some functions descibed in the manual not working/ being correct.
It looks to me that the manual has several errors in it.
I can't cycle through the Jog speeds using the 'Jog' button. Manual says each prress of the Jog but button should cycle through 4 speeds. Not for me.
I found another way, but THAT is not described in the manual and is long winded.....
Button called 'Focus Tab' actaully cycles through FRO, SRO, etc. Not described in manual.... '7' and '1' increase and decrease FRO, SRO, etc.
Anybody gone through this exercise and decyphered the manual?
Steve

Have you checked over at the Digital Dream controllers Facebook page - a lot of discussion there on the DDCSV3.1 - if you haven't joined it wouldn't hurt to join and ask a few questions - I have a DDCS Expert which is actually a rebadged Foinc CNC M350 controller.

Back when I was looking at offline controllers I downloaded and went through the DDCSV3.1 user manual and I may be wrong but I recall it operated in a very similar way to the DDCSExpert which is the one I settled on.
I have 2 jog speeds(in one mode only) and 3 jog modes, a mode button cycles through the modes, they are continuous, single step and MPG - MPG is obvious, the hand held manual pulse generator - single step will step an axis a specified distance, this distance can be selected from 3 presets or you can enter your own step distance, if the step distance is set to 0.1mm then the axis jog button will advance an axis 0.1mm at each press of an axis jog button - continuous mode will move an axis continuously until it hits a travel limit switch, a hard mechanical stop (ouch) or a preset software limit, in this mode the axis travel speed can be either normal or high selected by a normal/highspeed select button, my normal is set to 600mm/min and high speed is set 1200mm/min.
I'm sure you won't have any problems with the upgrade, I've gone through this a few times now with most issues, I'm always a bit on edge with firmware upgrades as you do hear tales of woe and bricked devices.

I think I have worked out whats going on. The operation is diferent and /or poorly described in the manual.
The wording on some of the button labels is throwing me off as well. Not sure if its me or the Chinese thats the problem.
Some keys do certain things in certain modes....
Thanks for the replies...

Good to see you're getting on top of it.
These manuals are all translated from Chinese to English and while I can say mine for the most part is not Chinglish, there are some parts that have been translated by a person (or computer) that does not have a full understanding of English and/or CNC jargon, just makes it that much harder to work things out.
I've recently splashed out on a 3D probe, $90AU delivered from Aliexpress it seems to work ok and I can get the centre of a round hole or the bottom left edge of a piece of stock setup rather quickly, I'm sure I can modify the code to set up the centre of some round stock as well, but I've yet to work out how to load the Gcode for these into the controller as a macro so the code can be run from one of the K function keys rather than from the USB stick.
