Plasma cutting is messy.
Hi Weld ON
I have built a cnc plasma cutter and would like to let you know that the process makes a lot of mess.
Combining a mill into it would mean a lot of cleaning every time you want to mill something.
Are you thinking to have the plasma table on top of your milling surface?
If you are going to have a water table (which I highly recommend to catch most of the crap) they are heavy even if you drain them. The mess they produce is abrasive and gritty - not something you want any where near a mill.
I think you might be better off having one or the other.

Looking good.
What is the overall gear reduction there - about 25:1 ?
What max travel rates are you expecting in plasma mode

Thanks.
For some reason my brain saw a double reduction gearing setup - which it obviously isn’t when I look again now!
