So I saw the physio at work again today, and got cleared for full unrestricted work capacity…
All up it’s taken not quite 16 weeks to go from broken to back at work.
My ankle still isn’t 100%, but I’m back at work and heading in the right direction.
I don’t normally dwell too much on the past, but I’ve had a number of instances in the last few months where I’ve found myself pondering how much worse things could have turned out. It didn’t kill me, I don’t have permanent spinal injury, and I don’t have a permanent brain injury…
Its also had some, um.. interesting effects on my lifestyle but I’ll leave that for a bit..

Hands up who thought we were done here….
I mentioned some damage to my shoulder earlier on, well turns out that ignoring such things and carrying on with life doesn’t really work, well not long term anyway.
Finally couldn’t ignore a few issues earlier this year and consulted the bloke that screwed my ankle back together.. Usual story, consult, imaging, more consult, attempts at non invasive rehab, more detailed imaging, failed rehab, more consult, finally arrive at surgery required, which to be honest we should have just saved eight months and cut to the chase.
Wednesday last week, was scheduled for just over an hour of day surgery. That turned into four hours. Apparently it was quite the mess. My shoulder now has nearly as much hardware in it as my ankle. Currently sitting on the side lines again for six weeks with one arm in what is possibly the worlds most expensive sling… it was charged to my health insurance at just shy of a grand… what the actual….
Funny story, when the physio came to fit the sling he had to cut some the straps down. He’s struggling to cut them with blunt scissors. Told him not to eff it up and void the warranty.. He literally stopped dead and didn’t know what to do. Had to tell him i was only joking.
Any who, hopefully this is the last of the repairs from this self inflicted act of muppetry.
Oh and the roller door that started all of this, that got replaced again middle of last year after the ex’s then musician beau came home from a gig plastered one night and reversed the bands equipment trailer into so hard it tore the runners of the brick. Not going to lie it was difficult not to laugh about it when she called to ask which company she needed to contact.

Hoping you get better soon.
I know what it's like not being able to do much, with an injury like that, mine was at the other end, in a wheelchair for about 10 weeks, after a month in hospital.
