    Default Bismuth dangers

I was making bismuth crystals and thought I had enough ventilation but I was wrong. I seemed to have been exposed as now I feel very Ill. I have shivers and feel very sick. I can't concentrate and feel like I'm going crazy as well as my stomach hurts and I have a bad headache. Anybody know what I should do as it's been over 16 hours since I was melting metals and I still feel very sick.

    I'd go straight to emergency.

Hopefully there are no significant long-term issues. Good luck

I went to the emergency room and they said I had become dangerously dehydrated and low on potassium as well as there is the presence of protein in urine. They don't know if there will be further complications and recommended following up in a week. The also said bismuth is non toxic and shouldn't have caused any of the symptoms.

Well I will give my standard answer to unknown medical conditions. Must be aids.

Bismuth is considered less toxic than lead etc and is the active ingredient in the anti-diareahal "Pepto Bismol but unless you purchased pure Bi to start with you don't know what else is in it so you still did the right thing in going to emergency.

Protein in urine sounds like a kidney disfunction - have you been checked out for diabetes?

A quick look on google I found this,

Bismuth and its salts can cause kidney damage, although the degree of such damage is usually mild. Large doses can be fatal. Industrially it is considered one of the less toxic of the heavy metals. ... May cause foul breath, metallic taste and gingivitis.
