Michael have a look at this bloke's setup, an almost-closed-loop vapour blast cabinet, he has a sump pump in the slurry bucket providing the lift rather than relying on venturi effect. It might significantly decrease the air demand.

That was the clip that started me thinking about this again!
I think my next step will be to see what a leaf blower can do when a trickle of sand is added. If that surprises me and works then I'll see if I can get a result with a slurry.
