I am not sure about the terms for picking out of the recycle bins at Bunnings but I remember a few years ago at one of the Bunnings (probably the one at Mile End or Churchill road, long before they opened a branch at Edwardstown or the Airport) , there was one store worker who did not allow someone to pick and her reason was that people just snap the power cords off appliances or something like that.
I just assumed that was the case across the board in that we can’t pick from recycling bins.
I have picked some boxes after requesting the store keepers, which seems to be ok.

The recycling bins at Bunnings are run by charities. People raiding them to take the good stuff is effectively leaving the charities with the low value end of things.

The boys I made the Ewheel patterns for use ‘car body steel’ for forming new panels.
With the demise of our car manufacturing I wonder how long before it’s unobtainable like nuts and bolts.

I reckon we will still be able to source it as long as we have panel beaters and crash repairs requiring sheet stock. Or probably classic car restorers since they can't find much at the wreckers.

Panel beaters and crash repairers are a dying breed, they're actually called body replacement technicians and mainly do body panel replacements. Very few actually knock out dents, unless they're minor ones, as it's too expensive otherwise.
A true panel beater is in the realms of classic car restorers, as these people know how to make a panel from scratch. Plus the material they use is in the range of 1.2mm + thickness.
