    Default Reticle Reading Autocollimator

To those who know and understand autocollimators!!

A Hilger & Watts TA130 autocollimator is, as far as I can research, a reticle reading AC rather than a micrometer reading AC. Not 100% sure of what each is BUT would a HY&W TA130 be suitable for the measurement of a surface plate?

Well that rules me out, but given no one else has given it a shot.

If I had to guess I would say No. How much money are you talking about?(is it worth a punt?)

I only say this as any of the ones I have seen used for plates are micrometer reading. But then I've never done the maths on just how "good" it needs to be.
I believe you need to be able to read sub arc seconds.

As an e.g. taylor & hobson specs go like this.

    TA60142-10
    Best accuracy 6 sec
    Readout means Graticule

    VA900112-2208
    Best accuracy 1 sec
    Readout means Micrometer& raticule

    TA51142-13
    Best accuracy 0.5 sec
    Readout means Micrometer

Missed out on this auction item. It would have been a huge risk as I could find next to no information about the unit. Best to stick with what I know other people use if I end up finding one at a price I can afford!
