Interstate machine transport
I Am starting too look for a T&C grinder something like a Cincinnati no 2 ( not necessarily ) my question is, what sort of cost would be involved if I saw one interstate and wanted to bring to South Australia am I talking hundreds,
thousands, just so I know what I am getting in for.

E-go (https://www.e-go.com.au/) have an online quoting thing, so if you can get some approxiamte sizes and weights, it should tell you how much.

As that will weigh about a ton it will not be something that is easily moved. Your cheapest way will be as a backload depot to depot. That will mean the seller will have to be happy to put it on a pallet and deliver to depot and you will have to have a way to pick it up from a depot.
I used to know a truck driver that did regular runs from QLD to SA and would often be happy for an extra pallet.

With current freight prices even on common routes i think it would be hard to find any way under a grand. I moved two lathe and a mill Melbourne to Sydney and it was 2500, but that needed a Hiab.
If you had it on a pallet and it can be loaded id expect somewhere around a thousand major city to major city excepting Perth.

I paid about $250-$275 (can't remember exactly) to have my lathe sent from Adelaide to Albury weighing around 450kg with the stand, they lifted it off my ute with a forklift onto a pallet and it was delivered to my shed at the other end. They even let me put a heap of other stuff on the pallet where there was space

I used to work in the industry and the present road freight rates are hard to justify on certain routes because the trucks are full of fresh air and nothing else. Brisbane to Sydney, Perth east bound etc. The only route which get loads both ways is Melbourne/Sydney.

I have made numerous enquires. most companies are not interested and those that gave a quote just makes the whole exercise unviable to bring a machine from QLD to SA the lowest quote was $2800

QLD to SA is not a mainline route and would have to come through Sydney or maybe Parkes and be cross loaded to another truck. Unfortunately the capitals of each state are on the coast which makes it really difficult to do jobs like yours.
PS: If it was me I would find the biggest truck stop in Adelaide and talk to a few drivers and ask them the best way to do it.CHRIS

China, have you spoken to Allen at General Tools in Cavan? He has alot of machinery in stock although I cannot recall specifically a T&C Grinder. I bought my Monoset from him.
I too have had many troubles with shipping interstate. Even interstate auction purchases are such a pain! I have had a few nice forum members help me out. The owner of Goodwin freight is a member here and helped me out. Not sure if it is something he makes a habit of or not.
Good luck.
