    Hi,

Being a precision optical system, you could try a high end astronomy/telescope supply place.

    Just a thought.

Yes Grahame I saw his website, keeping in mind, as per suggestion above I have also contacted Telescope /optical supplier in Adelaide, when I can drive again I will take them and see what they say if they can't help I will send them off to QLD. It has been suggested I throw them out and buy a new set although they are a high quality Binocular and if I can have them fixed I would rather go that rout.

    G'day China,

You might want to contact the Zeiss local rep, or catch him when he's in your area (gun shops are a good for that)

The high end European optic manufacturers tend to look after their customers.

What's actually wrong with the bino's, and which model are they?

Jena Jenoptem 10 x 50, I lent them to a mate (stupid) and they came back in two pieces the eye pieces are separate from the body I thought they had just been wound out too far, on closer inspection it appears the shaft has broken, don't ask me how you can achieve that.

About 50 years ago I let my brother borrow my expensive zoom telephoto lens that he took around Australia in 4 weeks on the back of a Kawasaki 900. When he got back I noticed a faint click when I rotated it signifying something was loose but it still worked fine so I kept using it. About a year later the zoom jammed and I took it to a camera repairer and after looking at it he got back to me with a quote and asked me if the lens has been for long trips on a plane. When I said "not plane but how about a motor bike", he said "even worse!" All the lens elements had come loose and needed to be reset. I remember it cost me a weeks wages to get it fixed but it was worth it because worked fine for about 20 years when I final gave up using film.
