Folding Caravan
Anyone know of somewhere in Australia these are available, or know of someone who has built one? Maybe plans for one?

That folding principle is how Avan Campers work and we've had one for 8 years.
They're really design for a max of two people and smaller cars but don't be put off by the outward size as it is still manages to cram a lot of stuff in there.
When we bought it we had a Subaru Forester and it towed that van really nicely.
I actually don't like caravanning or camping I'm a stay at home body as I like my shed too much, so I have not been in it much, and not at all in the last 3 years. SWMBO has used it solo a bit and she likes it and even wanted to get a bigger van so we could take the grandies away with us (Hang on!) Now she has more or less permanent vertigo so long car trips are murder for her, so we both stay home

I am asking for my brother. He has his ute camper pretty well setup for most trips, but was looking at something to maybe take away on longer trips, for a longer stay in places. He hates Avan type and so do I. Would need to be probably no more than ten foot length. Just room for a bed, fridge, small table and seat, maybe small stove and some storage space.

Hi Nev,
Grab something like a midi roof Ford Transit and do a home brew camper conversion !
I've now done two. One was a Ford Transit 280 and the second, current one a Citroen custom L2 H2. My wife and I have spent as long as three months in ours, wondering about in Europe, particularly France. All the heating, hot water and cooking done using an underfloor LPG tank. Nominally 20 Ltr and lasts about four weeks before refilling. A 300 watt solar panel on the roof supplies more than enough electricity for the water pump, fridge and TV.Best Regards:

Whys that?
Actually an Avan sport liner could be a good starting place to convert to something like that Casita.
Other options are a soft sided one like a Jayco Dove and modify it to be like the Casita. Whether the end and side walls would be strong enough to take the extra weight of hard walls would be something to look at though.
Another option would be to start with a box trailer and go from there. There are a couple of manufacturers of fibreglass/foam sandwich panels for caravans in Australia.
This is one of them. https://styromax.com.au/

Viscount Wanderer
The caravan in that video is very similar to a Viscount Wanderer.
There are a couple of pics here:

I have one of these. Very easy to erect. There are some slight differences between the one in the video and the Wanderer, mainly in the positioning of the gas rams to assist the roof lift. Weight varies with setup, I think mine is ~ 350Kg. Some have fold out canvas ends.
