Default Weird request from AliExpress store.

I received this message from an AliExpress seller -

    Dear,
I found out that you placed an order in my shop.
Thank you for your trust in me.
However, according to the policy of your country/region, you need to pay $1 for shipping to help the package arrive smoothly, or you can cancel the order in time.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.
If you did not receive this news in time, but the goods have been sent, please contact us and make up the freight, otherwise the package will be automatically returned after a period of time. After payment, the package will be delivered smoothly.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and i will try our best to help you. Please do not take the initiative to dispute or give bad reviews, which will affect your refund and package transportation.
Thank you very much for your support and look forward to receiving your quick reply.
    Have a nice day[Kiss][Rose]

Only a small cheap item but I may just cancel anyway.

Cancelled order and got this reply -

Dear, your refund application has been approved. I apologize for this unpleasant shopping. If there is a chance to cooperate next time, I will give you a discount[Girl][Rose]

Something weird going on. Why offer a discount and not forget the $1.

Anyway anyone know how to get back to english on the AliExpress site.

I’m hoping you went directly to AliExpress and logged in to cancel the order - not by clicking on a link in the original message?

Strange things can happen on Aliexpress. I ordered a 5m roll of tape, they sent a message saying they had shipped 2m by mistake and offering a tiny refund(so my scam sensors were going off). I counter offered that I should pay the same cost per meter for the 2m that I was paying for 5m, they said ok. Then I noticed they had a sale on and that 5m rolls were a little more than the refund was going to be so asked if they would just send me a 5m roll, they set it up as a $0.01 purchase. So I ended up with 7m for the price of 5m and they seemed very happy with the result.
I've received refunds for items that the tracking said had been delivered.
I'd had them ask me to cancel orders because it turns out they don't want to post to AU.

I've heard negative feedback is a much bigger deal there.
Maybe its a new hustle they get away with 9 times out of 10 that lets them have the lowest price?

I have had a few emails lately asking me to complete payment for items that I have bought on a site I have never visited (DHgate) which appears to be a legitimate site. After a few days I get another email telling me that due to non payment the transaction has been cancelled.

Strange things happen on the net all the time. Only been scammed once so far and got money back from the bank, so all good there.

Received that Collet Chuck yesterday and it looks great, but....... I have measured the mounting flange thickness and there is up to 0.005" variation when measured at two points 180 deg apart.

I've had a couple of these weird "requests" - one was for items I purchased ~18 months ago and when I contacted the vendor they claimed they knew nothing about it. I wonder if hackers may have hacked the Aliexpress website?

A week or so back i received a new printer bed cover for my 3D printer from a Sydney based vendor that turned out to have a bad crease.
This cover has to be able to lay dead flat on an Al plate so the crease effectively makes it unusable.
    bedcover.JPG
The most likely cause was during transport because the crease in the cover matched a dent in the package
I was expecting an argument but on contacting the seller within an hour I received a reply with an apology and telling me a new one was in the mail.
Now If I had ordered this from China I'd be waiting a while.
