Follow up emails about services you have had performed.
Just had the big gas LP gas cylinder refilled. Its easy !
The truck comes to the house and rolls out a hose fills up the cylinder and goes.
A few hours later I get an email.
Hi, how did we do? please give us an opinion on our service.
FFS, they only deliver once a year, fill the gas, leave the invoice in the letter box and bugger off again.
It seems too many organizations that provide some form of service require online praise and are into this nonsense and fill my inbox with this crap.
What do they want, a pat on the head and a participation trophy? Do the bloody job and I'll pay the invoice, job done, simple.
Much better was my solar installer/service bloke. He phoned ahead, turned up when he said he would, did the solar service in minimal time and emailed me a record of the work done with solar array performance specs as they were expected to be. No "how did I do?", nonsense with him.
What do you think?

I agree.
I don't know how may of these I've had from places like Aus Post - often for services like delivering a packet containing a $2 piece of plastic.
These people/businesses seeking constant feed back need to watch out how they interpret the feedback .
What happens is the only people that usually respond to these surveys is if something went wrong.
This skews the feedback received to be highly negative.
What then worries me is they then may change their service in some way or other to suit the few % of folks who replied and complained.
I've now started to ignore all these feedback requests although sometimes I reply to the email saying - if there's a problem or really good service worth commenting about I will respond.
We too had really good service from our Solar man.
I then went onto his website and wrote a brief review of the service.
Same with the guy that sanded and waisted our jarrah floor boards. He had a FB pages so I wrote some positive comments there.

I've heard poor buggers in "customer service" often get let go if feedback is not good. E.g. when you ring a telco and they want the survey. Apparently if they get a few reviews of less than 5 stars they are out.
Problem is that usually the company deserves a poor review even if the person on the phone is perfectly helpful.
Requests for reviews are happening more and more with online orders. Separate email for every product I buy....

Hi Guys,
This is all about collecting data ! The Emails they send contain trackers and other nice bits of code, designed to find information about you. A bit like all those cookies that web pages place on your computer. They don't just read their own cookie but all of them.
Ooo this customer has looked here and here...
I have a black hole for all this junk, including cookies ! I don't respond to any request for a survey. Just add it to a black list.Best Regards:

He might have just filled your LPG tank and buggered off... but in some cases it's the only way to get the feedback the company might need to hear. No one ever gives it a good rating in my opinion- the squeaky wheel gets the grease they say.
A while back I was grabbing an early morning coffee at my favourite place, and a tanker truck was filling a restaurant tank.
LPG hose was stretched across a footpath. Probably 2" dia hose, not small.
No signs, just 2 wiz bins placed around the hose in the general vicinity to 'warn' pedestrians that they could trip and get that redneck smile they've always wanted...
Imagine being the half-asleep bloke smoking the morning durry walking down the street... almost a recipe for one of those action movie 'run and dive while the explosion happens' things...
He'd get my 1 star. Thanks for showing up, tosser. If I were in a mood for a dust up I'd tell him and his little green truck to truck right off.

Hello Mark,
I don't know how this applies to other mail clients, I use Kmail in Linux, so here goes...
Under "settings" "Configure Filters" You can choose where or what to do with an incoming mail.
I add the "Address", or the "From" or the "Subject" to the filter list which is one of these three, there actually more than a dozen filters. Then I can choose from another list what I want to do with it. I can put it into a particular directory/folder including "Trash", which is deleted when I close Kmail. Or put it into a directory labelled "Spam". Which allows me to have a look before it gets deleted. Or simply delete it, in which case I never see it.
I tend only to "Delete" which is a permanent removal, it cannot be recovered, those mails which I already know are junk.
HTH.Best Regards:

I bought a laptop online from Apple on Monday. Stated delivery date is between 12-16 June. Got an email today with a "how did we go?" survey. Survey link expires in 4 days. So they want me to tell them how they went before they even intend delivering the goods.

Hi Guys,
I got an interesting Mail from HMRC, a Government department. Part of the wording said that it would expire in fifteen minutes, which it did ! Somehow it self deleted while I was looking at it. Something quite new to me, but it does show that your computer is not secure no matter how much anti virus or malware protection you use.
I've also started automatically deleting "Forwarded Mail" since discovering odd code embedded in the videos !Best Regards:

Hows this for service.
Enquiry to Local Council about a new twin vehicle crossover/driveway commenced early Nov 2019.
Multiple phone calls to Council but no replies finally went into the Council offices to see what's going on.
I wanted it slightly wider than allowed by our council rules for the size of our block but after a few minutes they let it thru - I was surprised about how little the fought me over it.
Got paper work sorted and paid full amount by first few days of Dec and they said we'll get back to you with two weeks.
BTW Full amount was $3k ! (its only about 5m long by two car widths wide) for which we would get back half of one driveway (ie $750) once the drive was done.
We could have gone private but it's the same price.
No call back, I Xmas/NY slide thru, and called Council mid Jan, "Oh we're very sorry the right person to talk to is on holidays back in a week,
Wait two weeks, place a call - persons who handles it was not there but would call back - wait a week, nothing.
Call again - Finally get thru, they can't find paper work. I offered to email through copy of receipt and plan which they sheepishly accepted.
Two weeks after that (so Mid Feb) get a call out of the blue from a concreter who wants to do it tomorrow.
We scurry around to get organized to be able to stay in as driveway is our only only access to property and especially as I was on crutches.
Calls us ~9am next day - can't come for two weeks.
Finally in early March Job was done. The guys that actually did it did a good job. I was dreading having to redo the verge retic as half of it was ripped up during the process but someone did come around to fix it. They did mine OK but had to get them back to attend to two of the neighbours sprinklers - all good.
Wait for 3 weeks call council about the refund. Yeah yeah, Covid19 yada yada.
Well we finally got the refund yesterday.
So ll up about 7 months - I'm waiting for their feedback survey.

Hi Grahame, Guys,
Relating about my disappearing Email, reminded me of the "James Bond" thing where "This message will self destruct in 60 seconds" warning and then the paper bursts into flame. When I was at school, I recall an experiment that we did dripping some liquid substance onto paper and when it dried out it set fire to the paper.Best Regards:

Another one of these "how did we do emails" from Auspost.
Well I tried to tell them that they left a $350 item on my front porch when it was specifically stated that I would need to be home to to sign for it.
I did have a tracking number and had duly recorded it in their system.
Parcels headed my way seem to have a little hiatus in Redbank Qld -arrive on a Friday and leave on a Tues-seen a it couple of times now.
Anyway, the next I know its on my front porch Thursday lunch time after we went out for the morning .later I found an email on the computer saying parcel was delivered at 8.30am.
If they got the tracking info working efficiently one could work out when to be home to accept the parcel.
The How did we do email could NOT be replied to as something did not work work to complete the link.
Yes I rebooted my computer and reset the the modem. Everything else with internet connection link works fine except for Ausposts little effort.
At least the parcel arrived unscathed.

Last week I had a $130 VFD delivered at 1:45am - It was also supposed to be signed for but they just left it on the door step anyway. I knew about it when I woke up at around 6am and checked my messages. Was too tired to complain and waiting for the "how did we do" survey to come in, but so far nothing has come in about this one.
Got an email survey just after paying the Automobile club annual subs. "You Have been Selected" it said but I couldn't really say much because since joining about 7 years ago I haven't used any of the breakdown facilities. SWMBO uses them a bit - I suggest they send her a survey
