We are in for some tough times ahead. I can't begin to imagine what the unemployment rate will be after this. We were already on the brink before this and with no real wiggle room and with the official cash rate at 0.5% the RBA is out of ammo before the war began.

I really feel for people loosing their jobs. I feel for self funded retirees trying to live on investments.

There is talk of allowing people to access their super, but with the stock market the way it is it's a terrible time to access your super.

    What a sandwich!

All I can say is that tough times creates tough people. We will collectively get through this. New opportunities will open.

    Stay safe everyone.

    Simon

For those of us lucky enough to have a shed, I believe shed therapy will be essential.

The mental health aspect of shed time alone, is so important in this current social disaster in that we can focus less on the TV and newspapers which are full of the doom and gloom to the point of nearly excluding everything else.
To get my self away from media and apply my focus to a project must prove beneficial to my mental health.

With regard to newspapers , I believe newspaper is a most appropriate substitute use for toilet paper. My way of expressing an otherwise silent opinion perhaps? Jokes aside, newspaper worked for us in the 50s and sixties and can work again.

The physical aspect too is important. Its a good way to improve physical well being. Moving around the shed while working on a project results in a overall lower b/Sugar reading as opposed to sitting on my rrs in front of a computer .

The other bit is that while I love my wife dearly, being together for an extended period of time won't be ideal for us,we tend to get nit picky and again a little bit of shed sanctuary each day is not bad thing.

Bonus is that I will hopefully use up a lot of material I have put aside for a possible gunadoo and clear out the shed.

Carefully writes this quickly so SWMBO won't spot it and hold me to the above statement.

Wash your hands and Keep Safe

Well this is week 8 of both of us being partially incapacitated and hardly going anywhere and week 2 of COVID19 lockdown. SWMBO has vertigo and I have the moon boot on so neither of us were driving or going anywhere for a few weeks. This forced us to set up on-line grocery accounts just before the major grocers stopped accepting new accounts so we have been able to continue to access online groceries.

SWMBO still has vertigo and can't drive. I still can't stand for too long so no shed time yet but can now take the moon boot off for short periods to drive which turned out opportune because we have had to take animals to the vet several times and one dog still has ongoing issues. I drive and stay in the car and SWMBO deals with the animals.

I was really worried at the beginning of all this as I thought we'd really be over each others company by now but we seem to be surviving OK and we're resigned to many more months of this if required

I enjoy self isolation 365 days a year, by choice. Not particularly sociable, have no friends, except the wife, and don't particularly want any. Unfortunately, some health problems mean I can only spend a few hours per day in my workshop, bugger!
