Default Looking for advice on Android Phone to Imac photo upload programs

    Hi Guys.
I am hoping someone can advise on an Android phone photo uploading program.

I want upload photos from my HTC 650 Desire to my iMac OS Mojave. version 10.14.6.
also I would like to download the music i have on my Imac to the phone

    I use Firefox 72.02 (64 bit) as a browser

If you have such a combination is there a program that you use and can recommend that does not cost a lot. Not seeking to spend a fortune but looking for something cost effective. I tried some of the free ones but they are limited .
I would like to upload pics to the forum but can't as the programs I tried and tried, would not work.

Remember my computer knowledge is pretty much limited to sending emails.

Android up load to iMac for Dummies perhaps?

    Thanks
    Grahame

    Yep .
I get a half dozen steps into it and get a screen which gives about 20 .Music ,filess etc options but doesn't give instruction on how to proceed.

I click on one and nothing happens. No helpful information in the pulldown bar.
watched a U tube video on how to but its different steps on my HTC. The Utube presenter assumes prior knowledge of what to pull down.

I think I have to pay some one from town to come out and show me step by step.

I’ll see if I still have an Android phone kicking around and if so see if I can do a short write up on it.

    Hi Grahame,

I don't have an HTC phone but do have an Android tablet. Just connecting it to the computer shows the tablet like a USB memory stick. Navigate to the pictures folder, after that its just drag N drop.

    HTH.

I use Android File Transfer to do this with my Samsung phone, it opens the phone as a separate directory structure in a Finder-like window so from there it's drag and drop into the iMac directories in Finder.

On the Samsung the photos are in the DCIM folder, HTC might be different.

If you only want to transfer a few photos to put up on the forum from time to time you could always send them to yourself as email attachments from the phone, open the email on the iMac and save the attachments there ready for uploading. It's a bit long winded but it will get around the problem for the occasional photo upload.

    Thanks Guys

I have managed to muddle my way through the Android File transfer.
I tried a bunch of USB cables but the i Mac will will not acknowledge the presence of the android phone. The phone transfers pic( into the applications folder of all places)

Even so the quality of the pics are nowhere as good as the original HTC-a HTC one series 9.The present one, HTC Desire 650 is just OK for general pics but lousy for macro which i like to do a lot of.

    Thanks for the replies

That is crazy, I've no Apple device's to try. All the phones that I've tried on my machine are seen as a memory sticks/storage medium. Ok some will not let you write to them, but all allow data transfer off them. You can go into the local supermarket and print your pictures off and some will even let you write them to a CD.

There shouldn’t be any quality difference unless it is down to screen resolution. I know that some of the images that I have reduced the image type to, won't blow back up to the quality that they were originally.

On both phones that we have I have the picture size set to 640X480 simply to save memory space.
