Default Any Small Engine Repairers Here?

I am looking for a small engine repairer, or some one with the knowledge about Sthils.
I have a Stihl HS 74 hedge trimmer with a buggered carby.
A while ago I was given a Stihl BG 72 blower the motor worked but the plastic casing was stuffed.
They are both approx the same age.
My query is will the blower carby fit the hedge trimmer?

I do know a fair bit about Stihl engines. There is a good chance their carbies are interchangeable. What is the matter with the HS74 carby?
Can't see the photos though. Upload them on the forum instead of the crazy Photobucket's server.

I got the hedge trimmer from work, the maintenance supervisor had taken it to the local shonk to repalce the carby.
See how he used bog where the fuel line connect to the carby, It leaked when went back to work, got worst as time went by, when the workshop was stunk out by fuel the supervisor condemned it. I claimed it, thinking one day I will take to a sthil dealer and get a new carby for it.

Today I went into my former chook house I saw the old blower I thought may be it will fit the hedge trimmer.

I had carby issues with a stihl brushcutter. Ended up buying a chinese replacement from ebay for around $20. Bolted it on. Adjusted the idle. Good as gold.
I dont think I will ever by a repair kit from the local rip off service agent again.

If your "new" carby fits then I would give it a go.

I did some parts lookups online for you. Both units originally had Walbro carbs, but the model nos are different

    BG 72 Walbro WT-253

HS 74 Walbro WT-264 or Walbro WT-329. I can't say what the difference between the three is, possibly different size jet orifices or similar.

Typically, overhaul kits these days tend to come with two or three distinctly different gasket sets to service a range of models, but have a single pump diaphragm and needle, so it quite likely that there would be difference in port locations etc. That said, if the mounting bolt spacing, the outlet passage of the carb, and the crankcase pulse passage are in the same positions and of the same sizes, it most likely that the carb would work on a different model machine. Certainly worth a try, failing that searching ebay for the Stihl machine model no or the original Walbro carby no should get a knock off carby for under $25 delivered. Either would be better than a stay in a burns unit because of a fuel leak getting into your clothing and catching. Also consider replacing fuel lines at the same time, I have found a few perished 2 st fuel lines of late.
I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.

After a lot of stuffing around trying to get it to fit, I will buy a replacement carby.

Any one know what it under black plate where the fuel line goes into?

Started to leak from underneath it.

Probably a thread into the placy fuel tank? Or that the black thing may have some sort of "O" ring in it, that fits into the tank?
If you get to pull it apart, let us know so that we'll all know.
