Unable to Browse for Files in Manage Attachments.
It is a while since I posted any photos. Has the system changed? When I click on Manage Attachments now the Choose Files button is greyed out. If I remember correctly clicking on Choose Files used to bring up an option to browse the computer for new files to add to a post. I cannot see how to add new files now. What have I missed?

Test Pic Upload for Manage attachments.
That worked Ok! but there's also a quick link in the boxes above the text area. Its in the last box across in the second row.Put your cursor on it and it will show
"insert image" message. click that

I’ve got 59 photos on file here and they’ve all come off my iPads. Now I carn’t upload photos ?
I do the same as always: via, Manage Attachments; Add files; Choose file; photo library; camera roll; select photo; upload; Attachments... nothing
My old iPad stopped working with photo upload. My new iPad worked with photo upload for a short time then stopped. I suspect a virus or something ? I note one of my ‘other entity’ ipads that is rarely used gets some unusually high bills at times. So it might be these ipads are susceptible to hacking ?

"insert image" message. click that
Grahame[/QUOTE]
Thanks Grahame,
Tried that but no go.
I got a choice of Upload Image from Computer, or from a URL. Upload from Computer is greyed out there too: upload from URL seems to be OK, i.e. not greyed out. My old files are still there, but I can't get it to accept new ones for uploading. Clicking on the greyed out area in either Manage Attachments or Insert Image sometimes locks the screen. Added later: After I tried the Insert Image button following your suggestion the screen was locked. I tried to log off - no luck. I had to turn off the power to the computer and restart to clear it.
Using Windows 7 if that is relevant, but this has never been a problem before.
By the way, I am logged in, so that is not the problem.
Frank.

Hi Guys,
I suspect that the likes of Mickysoft and Crabapple are disabling software now that support has ceased for old versions. The wife's smart phone no longer lets me download pictures of the Granddaughters for printing, so rather than mess about with upgrading she has bought a new camera.Best Regards:

I tried to load one of the images I’ve got on file here and it won’t do it. I can drag the image to the relevant box but it won’t stay there ?
“Drag previously uploaded files into this area to attach them”

Indeed It may well be very relevant.
I am no computer guru but if you Google Microsoft support for Windows 7 ,the date ,14th January comes up a lot. The gist of what or how this is happening I am unable to explain to you, but suspect that the unscrupulous bar stewards will use this to compel people to upgrade their computer operating systems just as BaronJ has outlined.
The rest of us though not having problems for the moment will be eventually forced to upgrade what ever operating platform we currently have. That's a given.
I don't necessarily view it as a Forum operating program defect when most can upload and others cant.
However it may well be instructive for our Forum Guru to know of it, if you have a current up to date Operating System - Apple or Microsoft - and you are still having problems,Steven needs to know. If this happens to be the the case ,post the info in :
FORUMS INFO, HELP, DISCUSSION & FEEDBACK
As that is where Steven or Ubeaut will check periodically for problems.
The Windows or Ios version is important .
As an example as mine is Imac and it is
MacOS Mojave version 1.14.6.
Windows, I am not sure, I imagine it is something like ie; Windows 10 Version; 1 2 3 4.
Anyway, the model and version makes it easier for the guy to understand the problems.

Which browser are you using? Try using a different one - they really react to the forum software differently sometimes.

Hi Grahame,
Stranger and stranger. I just tried to upload the same photos on another computer running the latest and up to date version of Ubuntu Linux and using Firefox. I was using Chrome with the original Windows 7 computer previously.
I get exactly the same result with the Linux computer as I got previously with the Windows computer, i.e. in both Manage Attachments and Insert Image the "search computer for files" is greyed out ,while the sourcing of images from a URL alternative is apparently still available.
At the moment I am not the only one with this problem: at least one other Forum member (YBAF) is having the same problem.
I will put copies of my two posts here in the Forums Info, Discussion etc Forum as you suggest.

Hi Frank, Guys,
There is something going on ! I'm running a Debian Linux and using Firefox ESR. Normally I don't have any issues, I've just uploaded five pictures in a post without a problem.
Have you tried clearing the browser cache. I've got mine set for private browsing and everything cleared when I shut Firefox down. I also check and clear all cookies ! I once found that I had over 40 Mb of cookies in there with all sorts of collected data including a fair bit of personally identifiable stuff.Best Regards:

Hi Baron,
I just tried a combination which I did not try before, Windows 7 with Firefox, and with that combination Manage Attachments is working on this computer. Windows 7+ Chrome on this computer still does not work, so it looks as though the problem is with my gear, not the Forum. I will try again tomorrow on the Linux Ubuntu 18.04 workshop computer to check whether either browser will work: Linux + Firefox did not work there when I tried yesterday.
I also have a seldom used copy of Ubuntu 16.04 on the Windows computer: Manage Attachments is working with Firefox here too.
Thanks for your interest.
Frank.

Hi Frank,
I stopped using Ubunto, too many problems after an update. Every time they updated something, it broke. So I dropped it and went with "Q4OS" with the Trinity desktop. I've not had any problems with it since I changed. Its been several years now.
Why not download the live CD image and burn it to a disc. Just boot off the disc and you can have a play with it. See if you like it. Unless you want to install it, it won't make any changes to your computer. Of course its prudent to make backups if you don't already, before installing anything.Best Regards:

I have had a look at settings for both franco and YBAF and there is no problem with either. So no reason at this end why either of you can't post pics.
First thing that comes to mind is that you have a bug of some sort on your computer. No reason why there should be a problem with Windows 7 so long as had always been kept updated prior to end of support life.
As already said try using the insert link as follows:
- From computer: Put the I bar where you want the pic to go then click on the Image (top bar of text box) then From Computer then Choose File this will take you to your computer where you can choose the file you want. Click on the pic you want to upload then on Open to upload pic to the image uploader then click on Upload file(s) and your image should appear where the I bar was placed.
- From URL: Again put the I bar where you want the pic to go then click on the Image (top bar of text box) then From URL insert the URL into the text box. Make sure the box alongside Retrieve remote file and reference locally is unchecked (empty) then click on OK and your image should appear where the I bar was placed.
If neither of those work for you after strictly following the above info, I would suggest the problem is at your end not really anything we can do about it from this end.
However..... In the mean time I have reported it to Steven the computer Guru and if anything can be done from this end (which is doubtful) he will set it right.
Hope this is of some help, but I'm a bit doubtful.
Cheers - Neil
