Default Niece bought a 2011 Honda Odyssey late last year.

As the title says. Only had it a month or so and cooked the engine. Engine was rebuilt. Dealer took two months to do this. Back brakes needed doing about two weeks ago so she paid a mechanic $400 for this. He left one caliper hanging on by one finger tight bolt. I found this when she bought it to me because of horrible noises from the back brakes. The caliper was swinging upwards and contacting the inside of the rim. That could have been a disaster if it had jammed inside the rim. They refunded $200 for this and fixed the issue. It did take him four wheel off wheel on attempts to get this right as he used a bolt that was too long and the backing plate was slightly bent from the caliper hitting it so there was still scraping noises. Front brakes were the next thing. She was quoted $600 for this. I got the rotors and pads for $175 and did them today. Cost her a Cheeseburger and Chips from Hungry Jacks. I think I work too cheap.

Had to shop around for the Rotors and Pads as they vary a lot in price. Repco was $170 for one rotor. . The Odyssey also has different rotors and pads even for the same production period, so have to measure everything to make sure the correct parts are bought. Found a place in Wetherill Park NSW that has really cheap quality stuff. Got the Rotors and Pads from them in a couple of days for $170. Had to call them as I needed the parts urgently and they were excellent to deal with. Didn't charge extra for Express Freight. They sent them Wednesday afternoon and I had them lunch time Thursday.

Makes you wonder if some of them are actually "tradesmen", leaving bolts undone on brake callipers. I certainly wouldn't be going back to that place!!!!
That's a REAL good price for the parts, wouldn't surprise me at all re the different parts for the same model.
Not sure if you know it, but, REPCO stands for Rip Every Poor Customer Off.

Mate had a GVM upgrade done on his Landcruiser 79 series ute. Picked it up and drove it home but noticed a noise coming from front end. They had "forgotten" to refit the bolts holding the front axle in.

I've seen lots of scary stuff like that done by mechanics. Makes me wonder what they were thinking.

I found a vice grip on a brake line of my daughter's car but the absolute best was one of my own mechanics installed two struts on my car and left all the bolts loose on the LH strut. He figured out I was not happy and resigned shortly after that.

My son had some local clowns redo the bushes on the front sway bar on his Subaru.
Instead of just bushes they replaced the whole shebang.
Problem was it was on top of instead of underneath the suspension arm.
He redid it himself as they’d supplied the pink slip which he’d left to the last day to get.
Stupedly expensive but hopefully he learnt a lesson.

I bought 2 rotors from our local repco last week.
    $4 each.
    Clearance.
I am using them as weights under a couple of small occasional tables I’m turning up from old Cedar balustrades.
