Guys,
Two points to make here,
One, while I endeavor have sensitivity for the plight of the agricultural sector in this drought, here in this section is really not the place for it.
I will attempt to move the discussion over to the Off Topic section under the heading of Drought. Please enter your further comments in that location.
Secondly I do not want politics to rear its ugly head. Refer to Terms of use -TOU's. Section 10- Have a read here please.
Thank you gentlemen

Grahame apologies although I raised the politics I was indeed trying to point out we have indeed been through this before (the drought and present state of) believe me my heat and mind goes out to all those on the land always not just in the tough times It was once my dad's and I wish to join them. Have friends who have or had farms.
Pointing out the failings of government as well as various department's right down to police booking truckies delivering much required supplies ticks me off because you'd think they would know better.
From the ground up during this time so much could be done but as it all costs $$$$$$$$$$$$ these days even if it is the farmers doing it.
Maybe if we could all just drop what ever we are doing, go out there to small and large farms and dig deep and lend a hand. That however requires the main thing they don't have right now water and $$$$$. No amount of money will force it to rain.

Politics is heavily intertwined in the drought situation. Not politics as in this political party is rubbish and that one is fantastic. But that politics in general exacerbates the problem.
Years past a government might have allowed some practice to happen, then decades later another government says said practice has to stop.

Don't panic! All is good.
Theres no real political content, yet!
I took action ahead of that time to avoid any problems.
Its much harder, after the fact, to to fix things after the harsh words have been said and people have been in each others faces.
I agree with nearly all that's been said. Those speakers of the weasel words-the pollies will continue to behave as they do they do ,whatever party is in control, I am afraid.
Look at the Commission into the elderly age care currently being held as we speak.
Not much will come out of it- other than weasel words - and the result will be the same as wherever else significant dollars need to be spent to improve the lot of Australians.
I believe we as the city fellers could better support the various Non Government initiatives to Aid and Support those on the land.
Thanks to those of you who already do.
I too am a fan of Marks shed and pray for the time when he has the funds to complete it.
A word of warning Mark, no matter how big the shed is, it shall never be big enough.
Thanks
Grahame

The drought is really biting here now. Some properties are going better then others. Driving along the highways I have never seen so many vehicles carrying feed. Either hay or liquid supplements.
Our saviour at the moment has been the live export trade to Indonesia and Vietnam. Without it there would be huge numbers of starved and dead cattle as there would be no where to sell cattle to.
Snapped these yesterday on my travels.Gold, the colour of choice for the discerning person.
