Default Ebay Deliveries, Anyone else ordering on Ebay?

I ordered a few items on ebay on the 16th of April one was a 200mm HSS lathe tool blank shipping was from Sydney to Sydney and today is the 30th still not here , ordered this little magnetic lathe light 240v on the 16th also and it arrived today

is anyone being bitten by ordering "local" and its being shipped in from China and repackaged in Australia than shipped to its destination?

before buying the lathe tool i was contemplating emailing the seller asking if i could pick it up, that would have been a bit hard, is there a way of working out who is local and not just saying it on ebay?

In this instance it might be worth while to go to the trouble of complaining to Ebay about the misleading listing. I've complained only a couple of times (maybe 3 or 4) over the years and I've found that on almost all of the occasions, once you actually get to deal with someone at Ebay that they have been pretty good at resolving the issues.

Perhaps my parcel has gone missing i'm not sure yet no tracking provided, one parcel i receieved the other day was stamped Christmas Island with 3 Australian stamps

I usually search for products close to me so i receive them fast as im a little antsy waiting for the postman haha

Just surprised to see a lot of the stuff listed on ebay as being local and its coming from China abit miss leading i'm not to worried about it being a Chinese product but the 2-3 week wait is a killer, i notied they dont usually offer express shipping or if they do its $99 for a tiny bit of steel

Yes! More times than I would like to admit.

Check the postage time estimates. I buy a lot less on ebay but still do local online purchases. Five or six days and its here.

I rarely have problems that way.

This sort of drop shipping seems to be going on a lot, I see heaps of Aussie flags on all these listings and loud text saying australian stock but it nearly always takes ages to arrive.

A lot of delays could be at the business end. I've ordered stuff from a WW supply business based in Brisbane, that has branches in all states and it's been 3 weeks plus on delivery, Aust Post only taking about 5 days from there to here. Your delay could be an out of stock item, and their computer system won't allow for showing that sort of thing.
If there's an unreasonable delay contact the seller, and if no solution contact EBay, BUT contact the seller first.

I'm finding more and more low value stuff just doesn't turn and then there's the endless haggling and chasing up.

But what pisses me off is when clearly the wrong item is sent - after several variably successful attempts at getting the right item sent I now immediately ask for a refund and purchase the item from someone else.

Even when they are clearly in the wrong I hate the bargaining process they try to establish so they get something AND retain their feed back rating

Rcently I ordered 3 Arduino LCD screens ($5 each, $15 total) and the wrong ones turn up so I asked for a refund.
Their reply was they would refund me $3 provided I gave them 5/5 ratings - I said no
Then they offered me $6 - again I said no.
So they agreed provided I smashed up the screens into tiny pieces and send them a photo.
I could have smashed any old electronics junk up and they would not have known.

Instead I quartered them with my thin kerf cutting saw like this

Bob i went thru that recently i bought a stripped nut remover socket kit i think its like a 11 or 12 piece kit it came with 4 sockets in a dirty casing that looked second hand i sent the seller a email they wanted to refund i think about $4 or $5 i said no they offered $13 i said no they ended up giving me back $15 order was something like $22 i put the $15 towards a set of sockets from super cheap auto

Bummy thing about it tho it was a local ebay sale and i needed the socket ASAP to undo a bolt on my car i waited a while so was a bit peed off with what sowed up because the size i needed wasnt in the kit

I avoid Australian sellers where possible. Chinese sellers will bend over backwards for you issuing refunds or remailing items. Australian sellers just couldn't give a stuff.

You can usually tell if an Australian seller is Chinese at least, just read the ad, always in chinglish.

Humm . . . . .my experience has been the opposite to this - all my ~20 ebay disputes have been with OS sellers.
    - items not delivered
    - items described/shown on incorrectly compared to what was delivered
    - poorly packaged and damaged items
    - repeated bargaining over refunds

I'm now much more discerning over seller ratings but even this is no guarantee that there wont be problems.
