Phil, I have a collection of imperial pin reamers from 0 up to 5 I think. Would you like me to put one in the post so you can correct this 'grievous error'?
Michael
PS - if you calculate the difference in diameter between a 1:48 taper and a 1:50 over the diameter of that boss, it comes to not very much. Better to have the correct taper of course, but given how beaten up that taper pin was, I would question whether it would even be noticed.

Really nice work Phil, I have only just come across this thread, I have no idea how I have missed it, but mis it I did. Thank you so much for the write up and all the great photos and captions. That alone would have taken me as long as the complete job took you. I just love how this forum brings so many helpful souls together, to come up with solutions to problems, or just another take on a problem. We all learn so much from the shared experience. As an aside, would there likely be any issues with Loctite losing strength at the operating temperatures of steam equipment such as this governor. Cheers,
Rob

Hi Michael
highly unlikely anyone would notice (though I would) plus I'm close to the largest pin I would like to put in in this situation plus thinking about how hard someone is likely to hit it down the track with a hammer worries me. Damn Metric.
Even though the pin has been upsized it would have been nice if it was Imperial (it's driving me insane). If it is not too much trouble a #1 and #2 in the post would be fantastic as I still have a little 'wriggle room' left. Many thanks.
Hi Rob
I think a lot of you blokes are just being nice. My noggin is big enough.
I would think that Loctite would be ok but I guess I'll never find out. I have certainly removed enough of the stuff over the years. Sadly I agree it certainly has a place in industry just not at my place.
Phil
