    Default Brass and copper swarf

    Hey guys.

If anyone has brass or copper chips from machining that are clean I would love to buy them from you.

Even titanium and alloy or bronze

I have been casting the limited amount I have into resin for my knifemaking endeavours.

Here is a pic of the end result.20220402_141004.jpg

I got a heap from my local M10 from their key cutting machine, it is mixed with aluminium, but should still make a nice effective handle.
If you're prepared to do some filing find some old brass taps and using a course file and some newspaper under the vise, file away to your hearts content.

That's not a bad idea check some locksmiths. They don't run coolant to cut keys.

I'm more looking for chips than filings. I have also cast filings in resin. Just not the same effect. And it tends to get dry spots no matter how much you stir it up. I wonder if a power rasp would make a larger filing that would work.

Instead of a course file you could try a rasp or a Farriers file, they are VERY course for trimming horses hooves.
I don't think a power file will do the trick as they are more of a sander and give fine pieces.

Where are you located? Postage could be costly.

have you tried a local scrap metal dealer.
I often see 44 gal drums of brass / bronze swarf in their yard.
