machine tool reconditioning by connelly
Does anybody know if this book is still in print? If not, are there any PDF files around?
Interested in learning machine rebuilding (I still have the dropped Dufour Mill to rebuild)

Years ago I bought a hard bound copy from Powells.com, but out of interest I checked and they have it listed but no stock at the moment.
Abebooks has it listed (they cover resellers worldwide), but prices vary from not cheap to beyond belief if you want a new book.

I have a PDF on my workshop computer, I'll send you a link when I get in tomorrow but worth getting a hard copy eventually. also keep in mind that some of the information is a little outdated and applies only to the manufacturing of new machines that require some degree of interchangeability of parts. the angle of dovetails being an absolute angle and checked with a gauge for instance has no relevance in the sense that as long as the Long slide is consistent along its length and the short slide is matched to suit it will function just the same. connelly never actually rebuilt a machine but rather collated information from a great many machinetool builders/rebuilders, all things aside however its a great resource to get you started.

There are PDF's available, I easily found one.
I would post a link but I'm not sure if the copyright has ended, the book is from 1955 so maybe okay..?

Current copyright term is 70 years after the author's death. It's sometimes referred to as the "micky mouse" rule. Disney want to hang onto the copyright over these characters, so it gets written into US treaties when IP comes up. (so I'm told)
I have a copy of Connelly. I don't lend it as they are scarce but can copy one or two pages if there is something specific that you want to know.
