    Default Hardened Drill Guides

Wanting to buy 3 drill guides, size number 11 for the pop rivets, if anyone has a few laying around. Preferably with a collar to stop them falling through.
Can't seem to find them on Fleabuy, either that or I'm looking for the wrong thing.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Kryn

I didn't think that anyone in Australia would still be making drill bushes, but apparently, at least one company does: https://www.fjbushings.com.au/

Would the inner section of a bearing be suitable as a drill guide?

I suppose it would do, just a matter of finding some that size. 4.85 mm or .191" could be a tricky thing to find. Will speak to the bearing blokes tomorrow.
    Thanks,

I have some 7/8” 4140 I acquired recently, I could cut a few small pieces off and put a #11 hole through it for you if that would work?

I was just curious if the bearing material would be suitable for the purpose, not sure they would have something suitable in the size you are after.

I have some 16mm diameter holes to drill soon and finding a bearing with that ID wouldn't be too difficult.

It really depends on how much use the jig will get as to whether bearing steel would work. Certainly better than MS though. The big problem with using a bearing inner is that they are quite squat, so hole alignment becomes harder. You also need to secure them. Most drill guides are either long enough (2 to 3x diameter) to push into a frame or have a flange for attachment.

The jig gets used quite often, 3 holes per plate. It's used for making the clearance light plates on trailers. Recently did 22 plates for the one trailer, some take only 6 but on average about 10 per trailer, times that by 6 trailers a month, = 180 holes per month.
