WTB-Metal Planer
Why should the Yanks have all the fun? Who has a metal planer for me? Also still looking for some smaller Camel-back straight edges. Picked up a 10 footer the other week by mistake. Its a monster God knows where it will live. Regards all Norm

If you are having trouble fitting a straightedge in, a planer might not be a great choice! But there is a 60foot craven for sale in Wollongong somewhere. Weighs something like 90 tonnes

Thanks for the tip. Though I might pass on this one. I would not mind finding something a little smaller. Will put some pics up soon of my "New unused" 36 year old SOBA shaper I picked up in Melbourne a month ago. Ex army and stored unused from new still has the wax on the ways. Regards Norm

I have a spare one but it needs some work which I'll never get around to seeing as I have one in full working order.
But it's in southern Tasmania and I'm far too busy to do anything like crating/palleting it or even getting decent pix ATM. Freight would not be cheap.

I'm not in any rush. There's a man local to me that wants it but I know he'll never restore it so I won't sell it to him. Another one in the UK which is where the machine came from but he's dreaming, freight will kill him.
FWIW it's a Redman planer with a 4' table. The ways are in excellent condition but some of the reversing gear is missing and the overhead motor mount/pulleys are gone. Couple other things it needs like the bridge clamps re-brazing.
It's quite restorable IMO I just happened to pick up another one in full working order so this one got shifted to the back of the shed and buried under other stuff. Getting it out is a PITA but I'm planning on getting rid of more stuff I know I'll never use so who knows - if a few rainy days occur and stop me playing with my boat it's possible I'll move the crap around it.
Pretty sure I posted some early pix of it either here or on PM, possibly both.
