Large diameter fly cutter
Having a crack a making a larger diameter fly cutter
I didn't have a end mill long enough to reach the bottom of the pocket so I pilot holed the carbide seat then flat bottom ground a drill bit to bore the seat.

How hard was it to machine the Gudgeon Pin? Have been told that they are very hard on the outer casing. What tooling did you use HSS or Carbide?
Thanks,

Way harder than I expected to cut through the hard casing. Killed one corner on my cnmg carbide just cutting through the outer layer.

How will you mount it to the flywheel??? I think if it was welded to it, it could be a real problem.

I'm making a spigot out of that gudgeon pin to make up the difference between the ID of the flywheel (41.85) to my iso40 arbor who's OD on the spigot is 22mm. That spigot will be a press fit and I'm intending to use 2 m8 Allen head bolts as drive tags. The center bolt of the arbor with a large washer will clamp the 2 together...
..... probably going to be some epoxy involved in that last step.

It's shed safety related

Hi Ajax,
I do hope that that you recover quickly !
Oxygen bottles due to the extremely high pressure that they contain can do a lot of damage if they are not treated with care. I recall some years ago an oxy bottle on its side screaming down the yard and burying itself into a brick retaining wall when the delivery driver bounced the cylinder off the lorry knocking the valve neck and it breaking off ! Luckily no one was injured. Though I reckon at least one guy got brown undies . We never recovered the valve.Best Regards:
