Default Chinese toys, they don't make toys like they used to

So my five year old came to me on Friday and said his little ride on car stopped. I thought oh yeah another one of those cheap scate motors has failed.

Walked around corner and saw the ref wheel had folded out and underneath. I said something similar to "ah crap".

    This is what I found

The front axle with the king pins welded in it was made from the thinest box section I have ever seen and the king pin tore clean out of the end of it.

The box section was 20mm x 20mm which I didn't have any laying around so I dug through the scrap pile and found some 6mm flat bar. At first I didn't consider it as been useful for this project but then an idea struck.

Made a couple of decent thickness king pin housing and a scissor action axle

Axle fitted back under car. Now has a bit of articulation in the front end

The welds in the steering rod are from a wheel alignment by fire. Cut it into 3 sections and welded them back together over lapping.

Rather ironic in that there appears to be some product placement in the images, namely the G clamp with the word CHINA clearly visible on it.

    By the way, nice repair.

    Hahaha yeah.

Testing a problem with the controller I accidentally let the smoke out of it. I now realise this this switches it's earths not power as I had assumed. Either way the problem went up in smoke with the controller. Onto plan B .......... that is as soon as I work out a plan B.

Ordered a frequency controller and some other bits so I see if I can let the magic smoke out of those when they arrive

Do you mean switches the neutral?

Switching earth/ground would not actually switch power off at all just make it dangerous if there was a short.

Its a 12v DC system. Switches the negative might be better terminology.

Once I get the smoke stuffed back in it I'll post some pics
