    Default Hydraulic Lifter Mod.

I have a 400KG capacity Hydraulic Lifter which is foot operated for lift. I have an idea to convert it to 12 Volt powered lift using a geared 12V motor which will have a cam attached to the shaft to operate the pump plunger. Considering one of the Z2D or Z4D series motors here -

The stroke of the pump is 30mm which give a 24.5mm lift per stroke. A lot of pumping with the foot to gain any height. So I am thinking some sort of cam, probably with a bearing of suitable size attached would work. Now the technical questions. What sort of power would I need for the motor and what speed should I get? I am thinking 60RPM but just guessing. Here's a couple of pics of the lifter.

There's also the issue of getting the motor to stop at the correct position on the cam so I have no idea how I will achieve that yet.

I remember a guy selling tipper trailers using hydraulic jacks operated from windscreen wipe motor.

Great idea, but is it not over-complicating something which is currently an elegant, simple, and mobile solution? Next minute- battery flat, table no-worky.

For motorised, 60rpm, ie 60x 24.5mm per minute is about 1400mm... so assuming a 1m table lift height would still be a 40s task. And cam operated, you'd lose the ability to do a half-pump like you do foot operated.
I would picture a motorised version using a motor to drive a threaded rod (ditching the hydraulics) - could be run faster, and will be 'stepless' or infinitely adjustable height, rather than 24.5mm increments

A 12v gear pump and a non return valve plumbed into the base of the cylinder would be the way to go, or maybe even plumbed into the hand pump body, another fitting for the pump supply would be fitted to the bottom of the oil reservoir.
This way you would still have the hand pump.
