moved the grinding head
A little progress here, I put a scissor jack between the 2 machines and got a more control on the grinding.
I found that it is impossible to grind on a sunny day, overcast with drizzle is the best as the distance between the 2 machines
stays pretty constant.
I have finished the roughing down and repositioned the grinding spindle and motor, so far I have only ground one side edge,
now waiting on some nice overcast drizzley weather to finish grinding.
I thought this would be a good candidate for Turcite B, it should arrive August or Sept.

Grinding shaft
The shaft is a bit worse for wear, also had holes drilled in the wheel flange thread, I reckon at some stage it might have been running backwards and undoing the nut so some nit wit drilled it and put a pin through to stop it undoing.
The bearings on this ran on grease and were pretty much not sealed in any way so I have modified it a bit and are fitting seals so that it will run in oil.
When I get the tool and cutter grinder parts off the mill then the shaft will get a keyway.

pity the shaft didn't fit
The old shaft was thinned down for most of it's length, reason for that is that the hole in the casting is offset to the shaft and not straight, basically it had a long high spot that interfered with the new shaft. I didn't want to reduce the shaft dia so i got in there with a boring bar made out of a toyota dyna axle.
I did a short clip of the set up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Db8Z_aaKUd4

A set up just isn't right unless there is a big G clamp somewhere.
