    Default Ratchet Cog's

Got asked by Sue's friend to replace 2 poorly made ratchet cogs off a table loom these had been made from old chopping board material one had lost 3 teeth.

    Got some 6061 bar stock

Drew up new cogs with 18 teeth machine blanks to size. Each cog had a slight .5mm rise to keep the cog away from the frame of the loom so it will not ware or rub against.

Made an arbour to mount the 2 cogs on simultaneously cutting each in opposite directions when mounted, the flat faces together. Using 60^ cutter at depth of 3mm x 10mm into the quadrant to form the ratchet.
Not bad for my first milling job, just need to double check everything in future is tight before & during.

Great work Ray. Only problem is that the part is so strong, what will she break next.

Kryn she had not used it at all it was a recent acquisition and being an 8 shaft well worth the trouble to have a new one made. Besides the lady looks after me with sales to the spinners group and sometimes brings or send cakes home with Sue This job was $$ tho no cakes.
