My gantry has a 3T long stroke bottle Jack on each end to lift the top. I had the same issues of needed a crane to go through a garage door. I use the jacks for lifting as well by a pump or 2 on each end at a time. It lifted my 1.3T milling machine no issues.

Awesome crane. I am looking at building one myself too.

What size and material strength are the vertical columns? Did you remove the weld-seam to make them telescope or was it a lose fit?

    Cheers
