Quick and easy Drill Press table lifter
My old Richardson Drill press doesn't have a factory table lifter. I assume that back in the 1930's you were expected to just use brute strength.
Anyway I've got arthritis in my hands now so the table is getting a bit difficult to lift.
I thought about various different ways of lifting the table including a winch with a cable and pulley, a counter weight etc etc.
Eventually I realised a scissor lift car jack would do the job.
Works well. Cheap and easy.

Looks Good Pete.
A minor drawback I can see is the table can't be swung easily around the column.
I got around this on my implementation by making up a curved plate and bolting that to the underside of the table bracket.
A large Bearing was then attached to the top of the jack so the table plate just rolls over the ball.

If it saves you and your hands it's worth it mate.
I think somethings going on up our way, because like you have done everything I go to do lately just falls into place, or every bit of steel I need is there and almost the perfect shape etc. Jeff must be looking over me.
The crane is in progress and going up as of tomorrow, and even the chain block spot turned out perfectly in the confined spot I've got.Using Tapatalk
