Default Lathe Carraige stop & dial indicator mount

    Just finished this.
Unfortunately my longest metric dial indicator has only 20mm of travel, so if you know where I can get a longer one, please let me know.

    Here's an 80mm

    Here's Mitzy https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mitutoyo...AAAOSwv0tU9HHL

If you wanted a more budget level approach I would look at mounting a digital calliper .

Bob I was thinking of 50mm of travel. I have a great 2 inch gauge but its a metric lathe and converting measurements adds a chance of error.
A 80mm gauge takes up a lot of space.
I would not consider a digital because need to cut a blind internal thread I expect a clock interface will make it easier stop on my mark.

Caskwarrior it hasn't been blued< but now you have me thinking about it.

The stop on my lathe is only about 1/2" travel. Normally, you only use it to go to a mark, not keep track of how far you have or need to travel.

I get around that problem by threading away from the chuck !

Of course the only problems with that is that the threading bar has to be able to fit into the hole you want to thread and the lathe has to run backwards for a right hand thread with the tool upside down.

Thank God. I was starting to think I was going colourblind!

Great job, a very handy addition to any lathe.

    Hi John,

Those are the same type as I have. Very good price.

One of the local suppliers wants as much for one insert as Ali want for the box full plus 20% VAT here.
